Dr. David Levasseur

Bar Harbor, MEOct. 24, 2018 – The Maine Primary Care Association (MPCA), a membership organization representing the collective voices of Maine’s Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), announced the winners of the 2018 Clinical and Administrative Excellence Awards which were presented at a ceremony during the organization’s annual conference in Bar Harbor. The Clinical and Administrative Excellence Awards were created in 2005 to honor the contributions and accomplishments of individuals and health center advocates working to ensure that affordable, high quality health care is available to all Mainers.

Dr. Levasseur is a tremendous leader, a compassionate and skilled physician and an active member of his community. His leadership has been vital to the growth and development of the dental program at Pines Health Services and our entire organization salutes Dr. Levasseur for this prestigious award. Simply put, we are just so proud to have him as part of our team” said Lisa Caron, COO of Pines Health Services.

Dr. Levasseur’s general focus includes preventative and restorative dental services. He also has a special interest in nutritional counseling, tobacco cessation and other general health and wellness information that support oral health.

In Maine, poor oral health is the most prevalent chronic illness in children and adults. A recent Community Needs Assessment Survey indicated only 52% of all respondents have had a dental checkup in the last year. “This where Dr. Levasseur has turned a sad statistic into his new mission of improving and expanding the delivery of preventive oral health services through the Pines Health Services area, which encompasses 22 towns across 900 square miles. He truly shines as a model provider for oral health, as his overreaching goal is to provide compassionate, high quality care regardless of one’s ability to pay. Dr. Levasseur continually goes above and beyond for our patients regardless if it is a case he can handle within our practice or if that case needs to be referred out to another dental care provider” said Casey Bouchard, Communications & Community Relations for Cary Medical Center and Pines Health Services.
