Aroostook County Native Elizabeth Allen, FNP-C Joins Pines Health Services
Caribou, Maine – Pines Health Services announced today that County native Elizabeth (Betsey) Allen, FNP has joined the Presque Isle Health Center team as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
“Pines is thrilled to have Betsy joining our team of providers,” said Pines Chief Operating Officer Lisa Caron. “She brings strong nursing and educational experience to her new role. In addition to her clinical experience, she has a deep understanding of the Aroostook County culture and our residents.”
Before becoming a family nurse practitioner, Betsy worked as an emergency room nurse for three years. Prior to that degree, she taught middle school English for nine years. Betsy and her family lived in Chapel Hill, NC during part of her education at Duke, but the pandemic brought them back home to Northern Maine, where she finished her clinical rotations in pediatrics, perinatal, and family medicine.
In her new role as a Family Nurse Practitioner, she will be seeing patients who are in need of a Primary Care Provider at Pines Presque Isle Health Center located at 66 Spruce Street. Betsy lives in Blaine with her husband Craig, their two children Elizabeth (11) and Tristan (6), and their dog, Luke. Family nurse practitioners are Advanced Practice registered nurses with specialized educational and clinical training in family practice who serve as primary healthcare providers either autonomously or in conjunction with physicians. Family nurse practitioners work with patients throughout their lives, diagnosing illness, conducting exams, and prescribing medication.
